WE SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Danny at our Italian-themed office potluck this past Monday. Daniel is the distribution manager and has created a big imprint on the city scape of Los Angeles. Every time you pass a Working World newsrack think of Danny. He’s responsible for making sure the magazines get delivered through rain, shine, riots, earthquakes or Laker victory celebrations. Working World is published every three weeks and delivered to their homes racks the street like clockwork 17 times a year. Thanks and birthday wishes to Danny!

WE’RE ALL BIG Laker fans here at Working World, but we have a slight beef to share with Kobe and the boys. When you win the championship, your fans celebrate by lighting one of our racks on fire. We’re not sure what motivates people to do this. We’d rather celebrate our hometown team by hoisting a pint of fine lager. But the lingering question is this: Who will pay for the newsrack to be replaced? We were thinking a trade for courtside seats for next season…

We are definitely part of the cityscape of Los Angeles. While the red square newsrack is our icon, the truth is that our distibution kiosks come in all shapes and colors depending on the location. In Long Beach, they’re blue. In Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, wood-grained. The city of Los Angeles recently changed its ordinance requiring all newsracks to be green. We are in the process of changing out our red racks to comply with the new color code. Don’t worry — it’s the same great magazine no matter what color the newsrack!
